Astrological Counseling

“My evenings are taken up very largely with astrology. I make horoscopic calculations in order to find a clue to the core of psychological truth. Some remarkable things have turned up which will certainly appear incredible to you.”

~Carl Jung in a letter to Sigmund Freud (June 12, 1911)

Astrological Counseling

I offer astrological counseling for psycho-spiritual exploration, understanding, and transformation. Astrology utilized in this way can be a missing key for deep inner work and can shed light on the path towards greater harmony with the natural rhythms and cycles of one’s life journey. My approach to astrology is to share the potentials and opportunities I see while exploring how the symbols and archetypes are manifesting uniquely for each individual. Astrology is a wonderful tool for self-knowledge and a help in times of challenge or transition. It can facilitate tremendous insight and peace, as well as provide timelines for certain archetypal or energetic influences reflected in our lives and inner states of being. Consultations available for birth chart exploration, current influences, relationship dynamics, and timing for important events.

The Nodes of the Moon

“The soul seeks wholeness. At the North Node [a point shown in the birth chart] you’re meant to expand your range and achieve new understanding and competence. If you entered life as an adventurous narcissist, the greater adventure could be falling in love and starting a family. If you were a monk in a prior life, the noise of the marketplace and the thrill of competition might be calling you now. Moving in the direction of the North Node can get you back on track. Nothing restores purpose and enthusiasm quite as magically as the North Node.” ~Dana Gerhardt

Find out where your North Node ☊ of the Moon is. The sign and house indicate helpful guidance about your growth edge in this life. Find out where your South Node ☋ of the Moon is (It is opposite to the North Node by sign, degree, and house). The sign and house show previously developed strengths, automatic tendencies that draw you backwards, and possibly unfulfilled longings as well. If you don’t believe in reincarnation, the South Node also refers to your past in this life, or the genetics/ancestral attributes with which you were born.

“Think of the North Node as the head, and the South Node as the stomach. The stomach has the hunger, but the head has the mouth. So you fulfill the desires of the South Node through the energy of the North Node.” ~Molly Cliborne

Jupiter ♃ enters Taurus ♉...

Jupiter ♃ enters Taurus ♉ to stay for 1 year. The projects and ideas, which were born during Jupiter’s year in Aries, have the opportunity to be stabilized and grounded now. Taurus persists and brings into manifestation the inspired beginnings of Aries. Also, hopefully this will be good for our economy, since Taurus rules resources and Jupiter expands everything it touches.

Neptune goes retrograde today for 5 months

Neptune ♆, the planet of union with the Divine, subtle perceptions of the inner realms, and also paradoxically delusion and glamour - went retrograde today. The retrograde phase (now through mid Nov) reveals the process of discerning truth from deception and reality from illusion. This is the time to listen carefully to your intuition, review what you believe to be true, and align with your spiritual path.

I read this headline today, which deepened my understanding of Neptune retrograde:
“A federal grand jury charged two-time presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday with soliciting and covering up the secret spending of more than $925,000 to hide his mistress and their baby during the peak of his 2008 campaign for the White House.”

Spiritual alignment will happen sooner or later, with our conscious intention or not, but it’s more pleasant to go willingly toward Truth, instead of being caught and imprisoned by that which we would prefer to deny.

The open-minded, sharp-witted, and quick-footed spirit of Gemini...

What a wonderful time to connect with others to share and discuss ideas. The open-minded, sharp-witted, and quick-footed spirit of Gemini is in the air (Mercury enters Gemini today, joining the Sun & Moon. And Venus will follow in a week). The symbol for Gemini is the twins ♊, symbolic of the flexibility to embrace duality (Gemini can go this way or that way, see this perspective and that one, etc.).

Also, Gemini and it’s ruling planet, Mercury, preside over day-to-day business, commerce, interactions, communication, and transportation - so there could be an extra emphasis (and speediness) in these activities, in general.

A New Moon Solar Eclipse today

There is a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 12º Gemini ♊ today at 5:03pm EST. Solar eclipses magnify the effects of the New Moon by eclipsing something in our lives that has become static or is holding us back, and inspires us to change or move forward into a new cycle. At times this process involves stirring up content buried in the unconscious. This eclipse is trine Saturn, which will help us stay strong and steady on our growth path.

In Hindu cosmology and astrology, eclipses are associated with a myth about churning the Ocean of Milk (the Milky Way, and a symbol for the vastness of consciousness, much of which is in the dark, i.e. not known to us), hence the notion that elements in the unconscious might get stirred up during eclipses.

With this New Moon being in Gemini (joining the Sun) it favors making connections, communication of all forms, and the processes for learning and integrating new material...

My favorite note about eclipses: “There is no denying the fact that a few prayers and ordeals undergone with keen concentration, concurrently with the eclipse of the sun or moon, do result in great spiritual benefit to the individual concerned.” ~Meher Baba (Treasures pp. 191-192)

The Dark Moon

We are in the Dark Moon phase (Balsamic/Waning Crescent) at the end of the lunar cycle. You may feel more quiet or low energy than usual. It is a natural time to go inward into the depths for reflection and stillness... However, with the Sun in Gemini ♊, there will likely still be plenty of talking, listening, reading, and typing.

The gifts of astrology

It is a privilege to hear a person’s story and then to see and understand the inside story from the chart. Permission to be oneself and to follow one’s own unique path, as well as compassion for the challenges and insight into potentials - are some of the gifts of astrology

Astrology and free will

Albertus Magnus, a famous Dominican friar of the Middle Ages, and proponent of astrology with free will, “cites Ptolemy to show that astrologers do not believe in fatal necessity and that consequently the art of astrology is not irreconcilable with Christianity. He wrote, ‘The knowing soul can help the celestial operation, just as the sower can help the strength of plants through careful cultivation and weeding.’”

(Quote from Sue Toohey)

Venus ♀ and Mars ♂ unite today...

Venus ♀ and Mars ♂ unite at 10º Taurus ♉ today. Venus is the epitome of harmony and beauty. She is passive, receptive, but gets what she wants through the power of attraction, whereas Mars actively initiates and will fight for and conquer whatever he desires. They are opposites, but have an irresistible need for one another, because together they achieve balance...

Venus is in her home sign in Taurus so she may have the upper hand right now to coax Mars into submission to her wishes for peace and affection...

Wherever 10º Taurus ♉ is in your chart is where you will experience these two archetypes during this influence, which could last a few days on either side of 5/23.

At the same time, I’m still feeling the feisty energy in the realm of communication from the Mercury Mars conjunction of a couple days ago... Especially yesterday and today while the Moon is in Aquarius ♒ inspiring us to be true to ourselves, even if that means not pleasing others.

Today the Sun enters airy, curious, and quick-witted Gemini ♊

Today the Sun moved from steady, deliberate, and earth-centered Taurus ♉ into airy, curious, and quick-witted Gemini ♊. People with strong Gemini playing through them seem to be able to relate to everything and everyone. So, talking and sharing with them is lively and interesting, and oftentimes a feeling of connection arises with ease.
